Welcome to My Blog!
This blog is where I will share with you what I am seeing in our yard, in our gardens, what is happening on our small lake – anything at all related to birds and gardens. And I would like to hear from you! The purpose of this website is for all of us who are interested in birds, to share what we are seeing and thinking. Please use the Public Forum to post what you are observing and to ask and answer questions. I do not have a rigid schedule as to when I blog, but I generally post every 4-7 days – occasionally more often. I will use this blog – you can use the Public Forum – and let’s learn about birds together! If you need to contact me personally, please email me at lindahendricksspence@birdingbeyondthefieldguide.com.

Snow Geese – look carefully at every flock. There may be more than Snow Geese in each one …..
Snow Geese are migrating and you might see and hear flocks overhead for at least another week. Out here in the midwest, they land to forage in our huge, harvested agricultural fields and to rest on our lakes. We do not often have them here on our small lake, but we do have them on […]

The rare Ross’s Gull spotted in Kansas
Cleon’s cousin Rick Radis sent me a text a few days ago to tell me a Ross’s Gull – a quite rare visitor to our lower 48 states – was sighted in Kansas. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of this gull – please check your field guide or allaboutbirds.org. Look at the range […]
