Welcome to My Blog
This blog is where I’ll share with you what I’m seeing in our yard, around our small lake, and when we travel—anything related to birds, wildlife, and plants. And also occasionally share with you what philosophical question is on my mind while I am outside watching the clouds drift by. Or if something strikes me as really funny!
I’d love to hear from you as well – what you are observing and thinking. Whether you have an observation or photo to share or have a question, please click on the button “Share Your Thoughts”.
I don’t follow a strict blogging schedule, but I generally post every 7-10 days—sometimes more often. Let’s enjoy nature together!

These crow-sized woodpeckers live across the lake from us in an over 200-acre riparian woodland*. Our Pileated flew straight across the lake from this riparian woodland and landed on the trunk of […]

What is happening at our house – and yours…..
The birds are having an unsettled time in our yard this week. This is a week of severe thunderstorms, high winds, and tornado warnings. Cleon and I have our emergency bag all ready for the storm shelter we have in our basement. Water, snack, laptops, cell phones. Today is the worst forecast – severe tornadoes […]

Lots happening in our yard – and in some of yours, also!
Spring migration followed by nesting season is just the best time in our yard to sit and watch birds. We have a patio and fire pit close to our small lake and as it is on the north side of the house, it is always shaded. Perfect for these late afternoons and evenings. If there […]
