Welcome to your Public Forum! Please use it to tell all of us what birds you are seeing in your yard, your neighborhood, on your balcony or fire escape, or in your favorite park. Tell us about any wildlife refuges you are visiting. And the birds you are seeing – what are they doing? Are they singing, nest-building, flying, foraging, sitting still and resting? Are they interacting with those of their own species or with others? Are they by themselves? In a flock? Ask questions and learn more about topics that are important to you. And remember, no question is too basic or simple – we all have to start somewhere.

Red-winged Blackbirds

For many years now we have counted Red-winged Blackbirds at our feeders for Cornell's Project Feeder Watch.  At first our identification of the species and the numbers we were reporting were questioned, probably because they were assumed to have migrated out of our area completely.  Not so!  We have, and have had, many, many at our feeders each year and this year is no exception.  We haven't noticed any drop in their numbers.

Carol, I am so glad to hear this!  I cannot imagine what a wetland would be like without hearing "Conk-le-reeeee!!!!" all spring long.  Not very musical but certainly energetic - and loud.  Linda
