New roof – today
Those of you who have been reading this blog know we had a severe storm in July with damage at our house. Uprooted trees (full grown oaks and hickories) and damage to the roof, siding and garage doors. Today is the day the roofers are supposed to come – one-half of the roof will be replaced. Cleon covered the large birdbath and I turned that camera off since all you will see is a big sheet of plywood. I will leave the birdfeeder cameras on until they come. Our deck is close to the feeders and they will be using the deck. So today, few to no birds will be anywhere in our yard. When the roofers are finished, I will turn both cameras back on.
When I look on the news at the damage from Hurricane Helene – most especially in western North Carolina and Tennessee – I realize how lucky we were. None of the trees came down on our house and even though the roof was damaged, there has been no leak. And of course the most fortunate of all, Cleon and I were not hurt. We were cowering in the basement, but that was all. Storms can be frightening. It is at their peak we all realize just how defenseless and puny we human beings really are. My continuing thoughts and prayers are with all those who suffered loss from Helene.
