Yet another sign of spring!

I went into our garage this morning and startled a Carolina Wren who was busy poking around all our shelves looking for a nest site! Spring is on its way!!!!
If you do get a bird trapped in your garage or shed, just leave the doors and/or windows open for about 30 minutes and most should find their way out. Wrens are very good at this – they have no trouble finding the door or window. Hummingbirds are a different story. While it is too early for most of us to have hummingbirds, when they arrive and if they get into your garage or shed, they just do not seem able understand doors and windows. Instead of going right out the door or even back out the way they entered, they often keep hitting/brushing the ceiling. For tips on how to handle this, go to this website’s menu, click on Living with Birds as Neighbors, then click on How to Get a Hummingbird Out of Your Garage.
