If you live anywhere in the Midwest, today and tomorrow are great days for birding!
If you look on the Internet, you will find there are places were you can register to get alerts when there is a rare bird in a place it rarely/never is or something unusual happens. If you have the Merlin app* on your phone, you should have gotten an alert last evening. Because of the weather patterns and time of year, thousands of birds will be migrating through the Midwest over the next few days. Many birds migrate only at night, but that actually is a good thing because that means they are foraging and resting during the day – where you can see them. If you are anywhere in the Midwest, this is the time to sling those binoculars around your neck and go birding – take a walk, a drive, sit on your favorite bench. And use the Public Forum to tell all of us what you are seeing!
