What an Amazing Morning - Spotted a Scarlet Tanager

I had the most incredible morning today while birdwatching in Lincoln Park on the north end of Springfield, IL. The weather was perfect, a bit cool with a light breeze, and the forest was alive with sound!

I was lucky enough to spot a Scarlet Tanager perched high in the oak trees—its bright red plumage contrasting against the green leaves was breathtaking!  It's the first time I’ve seen one this season.

What a gorgeous bird!  And a great photo!  I do not often get to see this bird so your post was such a treat for me.  Linda
