Everybody is back at the feeders and birdbaths!

Looks like everyone made it back from migration – Cleon and I are very happy!  Migration is dangerous for every bird.  Many never make it to their destination – especially younger birds.  We have no of way of knowing if these are the same birds that lived here last spring and summer, but at least their species are still being represented.  So far we have observed:

1 Gray Catbird

1 female and 2 male Baltimore Orioles

2 male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds

2 male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks

Male Baltimore Oriole. Avery Cleon Spence.

You will also observe several male Red-winged Blackbirds at the feeders and also at the large birdbath.  A pair of Canada Geese feed under the feeders just about every day and can often be seen taking  naps in the back yard.  And for the last several days a male Mallard – a very cautious duck! – will come to the feeders to eat underneath.

By regularly watching our bird cams, you will see these birds.  To quote Susan S. who often posts on the Public Forum – Bird On!
