Who is eating in the dark at 6:02AM?
Good Morning Everyone! It is 6:02AM Central Time and I am bleary-eyed at my desk having just taken my first sip of coffee. I just woke up the computer which runs the live-stream cameras. Even though it is still dark outside, the cameras do run all night and are lit so you can see black and white images. And there was a bird already on the feeder quietly eating!
Most often here in central Illinois, this will be one of two species – Northern Cardinal or Indigo Bunting. This morning it was first a male Northern Cardinal and when he left, the female came. And it was so quiet outside, I could hear them cracking open seeds. Shhhhhhh ……… the crows and Blue Jays are still asleep!
